Getting motivated

Aah, Saturday (sigh of contentment). After a long week the day we look forward to, to sleep in, have lazy in bed conversations, eat brunch since no one is in the mood to make breakfast AND lunch...what a perfect day!

Or not...

You know that annoying little voice that you hear in the morning saying, "Girl, you know you've been eating way to many sweets. Even if you try and ignore it, your favorite jeans tell the story. Since you have time this morning, why don't you get your behind out of bed and give it a workout.
Of course it doesn't help that MrH was out of the house at 7.40 to go cycling with his buddies. So yes, I did get up and go.

26 before 26: memory verses

I have been attending a women's workshop at my church since the beginning of this month. Every week we are assigned 2 verses to memorize so I am well on the way to my goal of 2 verses a month till I turn 26!! Here are the seven verses(or part of verses) I have learned so far:

Psalm 27:8(NLT)
My heart has heard You say, "Come and talk with me", and my heart responds, "Lord, I am coming"

Psalm 77:1(NLT)
I cry out to God without holding back...

Isaiah 1:18(NLT)
"Come now and let us reason together", says the Lord

Romans 8:12 - 14(NLT)
So, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation whatsoever to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you keep on following it, you will perish. But, if through the power of the Holy Spirit, you turn from it and it evil deeds, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

Am I living for Him?

Simple. Direct. Convicting.

“Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God’s holy will to cleave;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

God is gently knocking...

There are two sides to every coin.

There are two sides to every story.

There are two sides to the story of the cross!
“What! Really? I never thought of that. What does that mean?”, I asked myself as the missionary from UnveilinGLORY spoke during the church service. Hooked,  I had to return that afternoon and find out what he meant. He said, “When most people look at the cross, they see what Jesus did for them.  It is not wrong, but it IS incomplete. There is another side to the cross: Looking at what Jesus did for His Father…[Here is a truth that I have sadly overlooked for so long]…Jesus died primarily to glorify His Father!Everything He did was for His Father's glory.

So, if I look at Jesus’ life and death on this earth as primarily for ME, then my Christianity can become very self-centered whereas if I look at Jesus’ life and death as primarily to GLORIFY GOD, then my motivation for everything changes as I answer the question: Do my actions/words/service glorify God or myself? What a thought!

Have you noticed that when God really wants to teach one a truth, using one source does not suffice?…
